Hello from Twohig Dentistry! We hope all our patients are staying healthy and safe. Since most of us are spending more time at home due to social distancing, Dr. Twohig thought it would be a good time to review some oral hygiene tips.

Once our office is back to regular hours we recommend being proactive with scheduling regular visits with us. Dental appointments are the best way to find decay, fractures, or chipped teeth while those problems are still small and can easily be restored. When you see us for a check-up we do things like look at bone levels, condition of teeth, and appearance of gum tissues. We also monitor any bleeding and inflammation. We take routine Bitewing radiographs yearly and full-mouth radiographs every five years. These tools assist Dr. Twohig to best serve each patient's individual needs for a healthy mouth. To make sure our patients are comfortable we offer lip balm, headphones, and blankets for their comfort.

For each hygiene visit we encourage (it’s not mandatory) our patients to have fluoride treatment. We make sure to provide each patient with care techniques for when they are at home. We ask our patients to invest in their own dental health with the use of electric toothbrush and the use of high fluoride toothpaste daily. All of these products are available in our office. Feel free to ask us for more information.

A healthy diet is just as important as keeping up your oral hygiene routine. We recommend a diet rich with fresh fruit and vegetables. We want patients to avoid foods and drinks that can be harmful to your oral health like sugary drinks, energy drinks, and sucking on hard candy. We encourage chewing sugar free gum with Xylitol. We also ask patients to limit foods high in carbohydrates. Other ways adults can protect their teeth is by avoiding smoking and/or chewing tobacco products and limiting alcohol intake.

Twohig Dentistry is here for all of your dental concerns. We offer excellent dentistry for each patient with care and expertise from the entire team which sets our office apart. Each patient can expect expertise, care, and professionalism from our Doctor and staff.
We can’t wait until we can see you in our office again!
